Monastery complex "St. Joan Precursor"
One of the important Medieval monuments in the town of Kardjali is the Church "St.Joan Precursor" in "Veselchane" residential district, completely restored in 2000. It was a part of Meddieval Monastery complex, dated back to 11-14 c. A.C., when the Church fortress around it changed into Buptist's residence. Founded tomb and discovered pieces of peculiar Buptist's clothes, which are already restored, prove this fact. The hypothesis that the second Buptist center is set up near Kardjali might be proved by the last archeologic researches in 2001.
