Ancient cult monument "Tatul"

The ancient cult monument "Tatul" is situated near the village of Tatul, around 20 km. southeast from Kardjali. It is believed that it had been used as a place for holy sacrifications for the god of Sun due to its orientation. It is built so it faces the sun on 21st of March. Sometimes it is regarded as The Bulgarian "Stonehange".

"Tatul" The carved in the rock semicircle reminds of a rising sun.
